Travel Advice

If you are making plans to travel abroad, please make an appointment with the Practice Nurse at the earliest opportunity to ensure courses of vaccinations and anti-malarial drugs are administered in time.

We have a Travel Information Pack to offer you which contains a lot of relevant advice and information.

We administer all NHS vaccinations but any non-NHS vaccinations and all anti-malarial drugs are private treatment and are not issued at this Practice.  You will however be advised at your appointment of all recommendations along with details of how you are able to access them.  This information is also in the Travel Information Pack.

Pack a small first aid kit to include:

Adhesive dressings, insect repellent, antiseptic cream, water purification tablets and rehydration sachets. When abroad, check on the quality of drinking water, if in doubt, drink only bottled water.

Beware of the sun!

Minimise exposure, use a wide brimmed hat and use a high factor sunscreen. Children and babies should be watched closely to prevent sunburn.

Remember to practice safe sex and do not put yourself at risk of HIV or any other sexually transmitted disease. Condoms are issued free at both surgeries.

On return if you do fall ill, don't forget to tell you doctor that you have recently travelled abroad.
