Home Visits & Emergencies
Home Visits
It is usually preferable to consult patients at either of the surgeries. If a home visit is necessary please telephone the surgery before 11am, this will enable the doctors to plan their round and avoid unnecessary delays.
Remember, visits are for those who are housebound or who are too ill to travel to the surgery. Late or non-urgent requests will be at the doctors discretion.
Following discharge from hospital, patients are not automatically visited by their GP. Patients are normally visited for medical reasons or complications only.
Emergencies
Think carefully before dialling 999 for an ambulance or going to a hospital Accident and Emergency Department (A&E). These services are for people who are seriously ill or injured.
Examples of situations where you should call 999 for an ambulance include:
- If someone is unconscious.
- If someone if bleeding heavily.
- If you suspect broken bones, e.g. legs and hips.
- A deep wound - such as a stab wound.
- Suspected heart attack/severe chest pains.
- Difficulty in breathing.
