Obtaining an Appointment
Appointments can be made by calling in or telephoning the surgery on 01953 717204 for East Harling or 01953 887208 for Kenninghall.
We operate an appointment system in order to minimise patient waiting time. Out of consideration for other patients please book a separate appointment for each member of the family who wishes to see the doctor. If you arrive later than 10 minutes after your allocated appointment you may asked to re-book.
Urgent medical problems will be seen on the same day but not necessarily by the doctor of your choice. Some details may be required by the receptionist to allow the doctor to assess your priority. The doctors always try to keep to appointment times but some problems may take longer to deal with and therefore you could incur a longer wait. We will inform you of the situation if the wait becomes significant. If you are unable to keep or no longer require an appointment, please remember to let us know so we may offer it to another patient.
Medical Students
From time to time the practice host medical students to enable them to gain experience and learn with a Primary Health Care setting. As part of this training they will on occasion sit in with one of our doctors during consultations. You will be informed when this happens and it is your right to request that the medical student is not present during your consultation.
Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS)
Some of our doctors have voluntarily offered their services to this worthwhile organisation. There may be times when they are requested to attend accidents where casualties require immediate and emergency attention. This may occur during routine surgery times therefore we urge you to be patient. We will notify you of the situation, if your appointment can wait we will offer you an alternative.
Help Us To Help You
The following will help us to provide your service:
- Each appointment with a doctor or nurse is scheduled for 10 minutes. Request a double appointment if you think that you need longer or if you wish to discuss 2 separate problems.
- Plan regular medication requests so that you do not run out or need an urgent appointment.
- Clinics are usually busiest on a Monday. If you have a long standing problem then try and avoid this day, that will allow us to see people who have fallen ill over the weekend.
- Coughs, colds and almost all sore throats are not helped by antibiotics. Unless worried, treat the symptons with Paracetamol at the recommended dosage.
Home Visits
It is usually preferable to consult patients at either of the surgeries. If a home visit is necessary please telephone the surgery before 11am, this will enable the doctors to plan their round and avoid unnecessary delays.
Remember, visits are for those who are housebound or who are too ill to travel to the surgery. Late or non-urgent requests will be at the doctors discretion.
Following discharge from hospital, patients are not automatically visited by their GP. Patients are normally visited for medical reasons or complications only.
